The Human Muscle Groups
The human body has around 650 voluntary skeletal muscles which can be worked on and controlled by signals from the Somatic nervous system which is controlled by the brain.
Muscles are connected to the bone by skeletal muscle tissues and tendons (similar to tough bands of elastic) and makes up between 30-40% of the body’s total mass,
Other muscles which are both involuntary include the cardiac muscle ( that works automatically and is found in the heart only – functioned to pump blood around the body),Smooth muscles comprise of the organs and blood cells, the digestive track, skin, urinary system amongst others.
This section will focus on the skeletal muscle groups in connection with working out and fitness.
